We believe our growth can only be achieved if our farmers are prospered, so we always try to do our best for them. That is what has led us towards a successful and strong association with our farmers, every year.

Responsible farming

Our associate farmers and farms are certified against standards that Neelay Agro holds because they cover how produce is grown, not only how it is packed.

  • GLOBALG.A.P. — Good Agricultural Practices at farm level. GGN 4049929706842.

  • Rainforest Alliance and Tesco Nature's Choice at farm level.

  • Bayer Crop Science accreditation for crop protection practice.

Transparency is one of the four company values, and it is applied to the produce itself: every stage from harvest to delivery stays accounted for.

Resource efficiency

Fresh produce is lost when the chain breaks. Our infrastructure exists to keep harvested produce in condition from the field to the customer.

  • Well studied methods of harvesting and post-harvest treatment.

  • Own pre-cooling chambers and cold storage chain, with pack houses under one roof.

  • Efficient logistics and proximity to the Mumbai sea and air ports.

  • Machinery is regularly updated to match global norms and requirements.

People

The pack houses run on a large seasonal workforce, and the social-practice standards we are audited against apply to it.

  • Around 1,200 seasonal workers at the Jaulke pack house, most of them women.

  • Around 800 seasonal workers at the Konkangaon pack house.

  • GRASP — GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice — at farm and pack house level.

  • BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) certified and SEDEX registered for ethical and social performance.

Because production, packing and logistics sit inside the group, accountability for the chain is not passed on to a third party.
